If you are house-hunting in France - looking for a retirement home, a holiday home (a "Maison secondaire") or even a permanent residence, then you will need to consider a launch-pad, or base, for your excursions that is affordable, gives you a taste of the life you are going to have, and from which you can set off each day to do your househunting.

La Croix Spa is the ideal launch-pad for your househunting expeditions in France. We are located in the Poitou Charentes (South West) and are right on the borders of the Haute Vienne (Limousin), The Dordogne (Aquitaine) as well as giving you access to the Charente (Poitou-Charentes). We also provide a Wifi service, so you can keep abreast of the latest properities on your agency's websites; keep up with e-mails etc - all critical aspects of running a househunting campaign out in France!

We are near the main roads crossing France North/South, and East/West. You can Be in the Haute Vienne and Dordogne in ten minutes.

What's more: we've been through it! We moved out to France in January 2003 and have run a successful business and brought up a family here since then. So don't hestitate to contact us about any part of your househunting either before or during your stay.

We can accommodate your househunting expeditions at any time of the year, except in July and August (where we can accommodate only parties of four and above for a minimum of a week at a time).

But while you're here you can enjoy all the facilities of La Croix Spa! Our heated pool is available from May through to the end of September and our Jacuzzi and Sauna are available all year-round.

And within a mile are the largest inland lakes of the region, with watersports, bars and restaurants. There is fishing in the nearby rivers and lakes and two international-standard golf courses within twenty minutes. La Croix Spa is located in the second sunniest region in France. It is ideally placed for those who want to indulge in the fine food and wine for which France is famous. Being nestled in the corner of the Perigord-Limousin natural park, La Croix Spa is perfect for visiting the many and varied tourist attractions of the Charente, the Dordogne, the Haute-Vienne and the Limousin.

You may or may not want to cater for yourselves during your house-hunting trip. Don't worry! Evening meals can be ordered (pre-booking, please) and we can also stock your fridge with continental breakfast goodies. Make your house-hunting trip a "real" French experience by dining at a local chateau or another of the great quality local restaurants serving the specialities of this region.

We are 6 hours drive from Caen or 10 hours from Calais An overnight ferry from Portsmouth or Dover will mean you'll arrive mid or late afternoon at La Croix Spa. Perfect timing to give yourselves a rest and refresh yourselves before starting your house-hunting the next day.
